The Manitoba Government will invest 21 million dollars to improve safety and sightlines along a winding eight kilometer section of highway 39 near provincial road 596 east of the Snow Lake access road this year. This upgrade includes rebuilding about eight kilometers of highway 39 including widening curves, grading and base work followed by new asphalt paving. The grading and base construction project by Hugh Munro Construction will start in August and is expected to be completed by the fall of next year.

Also announced were future projects that include resurfacing about 125 kilometers of highway 39 in four stages from highway ten to 24 kilometers east of Snow Lake at a cost of around 38 million dollars, approximately 33 kilometers of provincial road 392 will be resurfaced from highway 39 to Snow Lake at a cost of 10 million dollars and intersection improvements will be undertaken at various locations to improve safety prior to the surfacing project.
