City Council is not Taking a Stand on Replacement Workers.

 

 

At last night’s meeting of Flin Flon City Council the Vice-President of the International Association of Machinists local 1848 Blair Sapergia stated his concerns about Council’s neutral stand on the idea of replacement workers during the strike with Hudbay. He said replacement workers prolong a labor dispute and do nothing for the community and Council should not be neutral.  Mayor Cal Huntley said he and Council don’t have a stand on replacement workers, it is not an issue at this time and it does not fall within city business.  He added he hopes the situation get resolved to everyone’s satisfaction in a short time.

             

In other business Councilor Karen MacKinnon reported the Flin Flon Environment Council is looking for three directors to sit on their board and those interested can contact the Recycling Center and another Bollywood fund raiser for the emergency room upgrade is being held this fall.
