Flin Flon City Council Wants Everyone to Work at Improving Our City.

Councillor Colleen McKee did a presentation at last night’s Council meeting on Flin Flon Clean and Green, a project to increase pride in our community through beautification initiatives.  She says recognition was given to the fact our community is starting to look tired and needs refreshing.  Some needed areas recognized were signage, painting commercial and residential buildings, clearing and trimming trees, enforcing derelict vehicle bylaws and enacting and enforcing clean up bylaws. McKee adds this will be done by the recreation department crew, public works operations, support workers, volunteers and also by engaging our community members and groups through participation.  She has a proposal to Council for funding to start this initiative and set aside dollars every year to do things beyond what they normally would do and will work on ways for people to get involved as volunteers but for now they can start by cleaning up their own property.

To help with this Mayor Cal Huntley says they have dropped the tipping fees at the landfill from May 21st to June 13th and will be bringing back the spring pick up program for this year with the dates to be advertised for each area of the community.
