A Flin Flon Champ Was Part of a Special Celebration.

Ten year old Ethan Jones of Flin Flon has returned from the War Amps 2016 Western Child Amputee Seminar in Saskatoon.  The seminar brought together child amputees from across the western provinces while also marking the 70th anniversary of the War Amps Key Tag Service.

Ethan was born a double arm amputee and as a Champ is eligible to receive financial assistance for the cost of artificial limbs and devices.  The War Amps note that by attending seminars, Champs and Parents learn about the latest in artificial limbs, dealing with teasing and bullying and parenting an amputee child.  Ethan’s mom Tanya says seminars give Champs like Ethan the drive and determination to soar to new heights and gives him the opportunity to meet friends just like him.

The War Amps Key Tag Service was launched in 1946 and continues to employ amputees and people with disabilities and has returned more than 1.5 million sets of lost keys with funds raised supporting their Champs programs.
