(february 1, 2012) Churchill Member of Parliament Niki Ashton has received the endorsement of Carol Hughes, the NDP Member of Parliament for Algoma Manitoulin Kapuskasing to be the next leader of Canada’s NDP.

              Hughes says Niki understands parts of the country like hers and believes that she understands the challenges of families in Northern Ontario.  Hughes adds Ashton understands that to build an NDP government they need to win seats in rural and northern regions that are being taken for granted by Stephen Harper.

              Carol Hughes is the fourth NDP caucus member to endorse Ashton for leader.  She has also been endorsed by Manitoba Deputy Premier Eric Robinson, nine other Manitoba MLAs and numerous community leaders.
