Bombers Rebound Over Bruins

The Flin Flon Bombers got back on the winning track with a hard fought 3-2 win over Estevan last night.

Flin Flon had a sluggish first period and trailed 1-0 after 1, when Fletcher pocketed his 3rd of the season to open things up at 7:48.

The Bombers came alive in the second and fired 12 shots at Tyler Fuhr, beating him 3 times on goals from Reitmeier (6) and a pair from Brandon Switzer who now has 14 on the season.

Both of Switzer's goals were identical as he was able to pick up a couple of nice passes from Alex Smith and go back door to dazzle the crowd.

Switzer had to say this about the win last night. " Any time you lose against Laronge it is tough, but I think tonight was a big game with Estevan having such a skilled club, for myself it is finding areas to score and Smitty and Kocur do such a great job setting me up. Credit to them and hopefully we can keep it going."

The Bombers took a 3-1 lead into the third  period and had some good chances to bury the Bruins, but Estevan were able to hang around and made it a 1 goal game when Pastachak picked up his 13th at 10:55.

Estevan got a late power-play and also pulled their goalie but they could not put another puck past Zac Robidoux who picked up his 9th victory of the season.

Robidoux stopped 40 out of 42 Estevan shots and continues to be one of the best players for his team down the stretch.

Flin Flon is back at .500 at 11-11-0-4 and have moved to within 4 points of Nipawin for third in the Sherwood Division. The Bombers have won 5 of their last 6 and are 6-3-0-1 in their last 10.

Now the Bombers will focus their attention on Notre Dame who come to town tonight and will play the Bombers for the third time this season.

The Hounds have beaten Flin Flon twice,  4-3 at the Showcase October the 6th and 5-2 in Notre Dame on October the 28th. They also took down the red hot Ice Wolves in a shoot out last night.

Notre Dame sits third in the Finning Division with 26 points, just 1 point behind second place Kindersley.

Game time tonight at the Whitney Forum is 7:30.
